PROJECT OVERVIEW
During a trip to Bali, I challenged myself to photograph the character hidden in everyday surfaces using only a 50mm prime lens. By limiting my gear, I shifted my focus toward careful observation—capturing the textures, imperfections, and patterns that tell quiet stories. This series is an exercise in slowing down, looking closer, and finding beauty in the details often overlooked.
This personal photography study was driven by a desire to sharpen my eye for detail through the observation of everyday textures. During a trip to Bali, I intentionally used only a 50mm prime lens, encouraging a more deliberate approach to composition, perspective, and framing. Instead of photographing landmarks, I focused on the patterns, materials, and imperfections found in both natural and built environments.
The resulting collection celebrates the richness of texture and materiality often overlooked in everyday surroundings. More than a travel photography series, the project strengthened my visual awareness and continues to influence my approach to architecture, graphic design, and visual storytelling by reinforcing the value of careful observation.
